Submitting an idea
When reviewing the ideas you submit, we're looking for four things:
Is this an enhancement request, or a bug report?
An enhancement is an improvement or addition to the app; addressing an enhancement makes the app better. A bug is when the app doesn't perform as it's been designed or otherwise is expected to perform; addressing a bug makes the app correct. Kindly submit bugs here.
What problem is this idea attempting to solve?
Is there a clear description of the problem? While it's natural to ask for a tool when you have a problem to solve, it's better still to describe the problem and what you're hoping to accomplish so that we can help determine whether options might already exist or need to be created to best solve the problem.
How much value is there in solving this problem?
What's in it for the students? What's the benefit to instructors? How significant an improvement does this represent for a broad swath of users?
Did you give it a good title?
This helps others identify if the idea they want to create already exists, and allows us to quickly organize the ideas as you submit them. Format your idea titles like this: Ability to [goal/desire]. Good Example: "Ability to open links in a new tab." Bad example: "New tab on click"
Voting on an idea
You get 10 votes total to use on active ideas. Ideas you create count as a vote, and when your idea or an idea you have voted on has been completed, you'll get that vote back to use on other ideas.
The review process
The process will determine what you can expect as the next phase of an idea.
- Review - Ideas are reviewed daily so that they are clearly titled, correctly categorized and validated as enhancements and not bugs (we refer bugs to RMCADGo Support).
- Comments - The LMS Product Management team may comment to provide any insight or ask for more clarification of the problem. A lack of comments doesn't mean we haven't read your idea - it just means that we understand it and don't need any clarification at this time.
- Statuses - Regularly, the LMS product team will update the statuses of ideas based on the demand (by number of votes) for each idea, how each idea fits with broader goals for the LMS, and technical feasibility.
The statuses
We assign statuses to each idea as follows:
- Planned -The idea will be implemented in a future release. When an item is queued, we are researching the best method for implementation, validating and documenting the enhancement's requirements, and preparing technical and design specifications for the development team to follow.
- Started -The idea is currently in development. The development team has everything they need and we're waiting eagerly for our new toys.
- Completed -The idea has been released. It's live in the LMS and ready for you to enjoy.
- Declined -This idea is not going to be developed.
Once a status is updated, we'll comment with more info and mark the comment as an answer.
